During your turn at a Bardic Circle you may:
Later, if there is interest, we may switch to a form of Moderated Chaos which allows performers to jump in with followers or change the subject with a new song category -- but discourages the filk hog who won't let others play.
Remember, ANYTHING performed in a filk song circle is filk! Folk songs, songs about cats, songs about traffic jams, train wrecks, sea chanteys have all been welcomed at the circle.
Listeners are also welcome if you'd like to hear filk music but would rather not sing -- although you are encouraged sing along on choruses!
Our Portland, Oregon Filk Song Circles are held on the first Saturday of each month (but check the event calendar below for changes).

The gate to the fenced parking lot is behind the Big 5 Sporting Goods store at SE 82nd and Foster. There is a ramp, but it is an old building and is not wheelchair accessible.
There is a $5 per person donation for the lodge upkeep.
Bring your own food, drinks and snacks. If you bring it in, you MUST pack it out.

Friends of Filk is a non-profit association which takes filk music CDs to science fiction and fantasy conventions in the Pacific Northwest, and has used the funds to bring music guests to the Pacific Northwest who would normally not perform in our region.
Now that many sf/fantasy conventions are funding their own music guests of honor, we are using the funds to support filk music by investing in this website to spread the word about this fantastic sub-genre of folk music.
